Experience the intimacy of Hoyt Park at the second annual Picnic in the Park benefiting Madison Parks Foundation on October 28th, 2017

This historically themed evening will be an experience expertly crafted by Event Essentials featuring valet service, welcome cocktails, a four course dinner (a heated tent and parlor!), the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, a chance to fall in love with the history of Madison's parks, and a few surprises. 

NBC15's own John Stofflet will emcee a short program but this event is unique because you will not find a raffle, auction or paddle ask at this event. Instead, this event simply recreates the inspiration for our Madison parks in order to connect our guests to the legacy that continues to preserve the natural spaces of our city.

On October 28th, 2017, step back in time as we celebrate the 123-year history of Madison parks. Enjoy an elegant evening inspired by the turn-of-the-century, while indulging in dinner crafted by culinary talents of renowned chefs Jonny Hunter, Phillip Hurley and John Gadau.


Jonny Hunter

Jonny is the co-founder of Underground Food Collective which includes Underground Butcher, Underground Catering, Underground Meats and Forequarter Restaurant.  As a James Beard nominated chef, he is a strong contributor to Madison’s nationally recognized culinary scene.  Jonny is currently developing First Course, a job training program focused on supporting people in the food industry.  He is an avid supporter of parks through his generous work with Makeshift Festival and Picnic in the Park.


Phillip Hurley & John Gadau

Phillip and John are co-owners/chefs of Sardine, Gates & Brovi and Marigold Kitchen. These James Beard nominated chefs met in 1997 while living in Chicago where they quickly realized they shared the same desire of highlighting the importance of  local ingredients and sustainable sources. In 2000 they moved their families to Madison where they have and will continue to broaden the talent level of our local food scene. Event Essentials and Madison Parks Foundation are excited to welcome these talented chefs as they lend their expertise to this year’s Picnic in the Park.
